History 

Ferdowsi university of Mashhad (FUM) first proposal was announced simultaneously with the establishment of Tehran university in 1934.ln December 1949 this institute was officially inaugurated as the first center of Medical Sciences in the north east of Iran.
Then finally by foundation of some more faculties like literature and technology, the complex was named “Mashhad University” and then after that in 1975, the rules and regulations for education of Tehran university were adopted for use in this new university.


This university is located in the north east of Iran in Khorasan Razavi province.

Since then other faculties have been gradually added to the university based on the local demand.
These are the faculties of Science, agriculture, engineering, economics, veterinary medicine, the faculty of mathematics, architecture, the faculty of Urbanism and Islamic arts and other faculties like natural resources and environment.
And then in 1975 after the separation of faculties related to medical sciences from the university, the name of university was changed from “Mashhad University” to “The Ferdowsi University of Mashhad”.
The Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has now nearly seven decades of brilliant educational, research and cultural history and it is well known among institutes of higher education in Iran. It is currently one of the nation’s top three universities and also the largest center of higher education in the North East of Iran.
At present this university is composed of 12 faculties, 7 centers of excellence, 820 faculty members, over 20000 students and also 1050 staff members.
This university has over 1300 international students.
Currently, 1279 foreign students are enrolled in different academic programs at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. In addition, there are also 187 foreign students who are passing their six-month training courses in language at the International Center for Teaching Persian to Non-Persian Speakers. These students would begin their academic education after they pass this six-month course of study.

Doctoral Students Admission
 Applicants are required to fill in the online application form. All the documents listed below must also be uploaded:
 An image of the main page (the page with your photo and the expiration date) of your passport.
 Your CV, including a list of your prior jobs, responsibilities, and achievements in chronological order.
Your CV must also include thorough information on your educational background, the courses you have taken, and any other achievement that may be of interest to the assessment committee.
 Graduation certificate and its English translation.
Applicants of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad require a university degree and must submit a copy of their bachelor’s or master’s degree. (Degrees issued in other countries must be approved by the Iranian embassy in those countries)

 Ferdowsi University of Mashhad applicants must transfer the amount of 1,000,000 Rials (equivalent to one-hundred thousand Tomans) in application fees to the account number 425305379 in the name of The Associate Dean for Research and Technology at Tejarat bank, branch of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. The applicants are then required to upload an image of the transfer receipt to the registration system.
The title of passed courses as well as the academic transcript.
The academic transcript is required to have been issued in the applicant’s native language with its English translation attached—done by the university or an official translation center.

 Prerequisites:

 All graduate education applicants are required to be proficient in the Persian language
Notice: Should the applicants not be proficient in Persian writing or speaking, they must take part in the Persian language learning course at Ferdowsi University and successfully pass it. The maximum duration of the Persian language course will be 9 months, and it must have been completed prior to the start of the academic program. Foreign languages students will only need a three-month Persian language course.

Include a chronological list of all employment and the duties you performed.
Include all degrees earned or courses attended and any other experience that may be of interest to the academic review committee.

Proof of University degree completion and English translation

You must hold a university degree for ICFUM admission
Submit a copy of your diploma showing award of bachelor’s or Master degree. (Diploma outside of the IRAN must be approved by the Iranian Embassy located in their countries.)
    Official and complete record of each course studied and marks earned in each subject (complete academic transcripts). Academic records should be issued in their original languages and accompanied by English translation. (usually prepared by the university or an official translator).
Aspirants to Ferdowsi University of Mashhad are required to pay a sum of 1,000,000 IRR via Currents Account No. 425305379 belonging to “Deputy of Research & Technology” of FUM at Tejarat Bank (FUM Campus branch) and to upload the scan of the bank receipt in the registration system.

Pre requirements:

 All postgraduate applicants are expected to be proficient in Farsi Language (Note: Applicants lacking the ability to speak and write fluently in Farsi Language must attend and pass the Farsi Language course conducted by Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. The maximum duration for this course is 9 months

Persian Courses

This university has provided a four-steps courses
A0: thirty hours in 5 days(pre-elementary)
A:216 hours (elementary 1,2 and Intermediate 1) 3 months
B:216 hours (Intermediate 2, Advanced 1,2) 3 months
C:216 hours (upper advanced|) 3 months
Note: Tuition for each 3 months is 450 Euros 

Tuition fees for non-scholarship international students 

Bachelor:

Humanities fields: 600 to 1100 Euros
Other fields: 1000 to 1500 Euros 

Masters and Ph.D.: 

Humanities fields: 900 to 1400 Euros
Other fields: 1300 to 1800 Euros 
 
Note 1: 70% discount on fixed and variable tuition fees for Persian language and literature students.

Note 2: 70% discount on fixed and variable tuition for Afghan students.

Note 3: A discount of at least 20% and at most 40% of fixed and variable tuition fees for top students (first to third rank in the undergraduate level).

Note 4: Non-Iranian students "Residing in Iran" can benefit from the facilities of this regulation according to the rules of admission without a talent test No. 307862/2 dated 10/17/1401 and study in the university on a daily basis in master's and doctoral degrees.

Note 5: 20% discount on the fixed tuition fee of every student who has a family member (including: brother and sister, husband and wife - parents - student's children) studying at the university at the same time.

Note 6: A 30% discount on the fixed tuition fee for PhD students who have completed two degrees (Bachelor's and Master's) at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.

Note 7: 10% discount on fixed tuition fees for students who have completed a previous course of study at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.

Note 8: In case of withdrawal of the student, he is obliged to pay the fixed tuition for two semesters of study to the university.
